Week 9: Famous Last Words

This Class:

I enjoy the way Professor Gibbs has set up the class. We had assigned readings the first couple of weeks to become familiar with Indian Epics in general and now in week 9 we are allowed to choose our own reading. I like this style because I am able to read more about what I enjoyed and not have to focus on stories that I did not understand. I am almost at the end of this class with points so for now extra credit is my friend.

Other Classes:

I came back from Spring Break and school hit me like a ton of brick. I have been assigned two tests next Thursday in my two hardest classes. I am not looking forward to that at all. It my art therapy class we learned about dance/movement therapy and it was interesting but embarrassing. The professor made us all get up and bust our favorite more which made me very uncomfortable. I am looking forward to later in the class when she teaches us how to make balloon animals.

Personal Life:

Spring Break was amazing! I started the week with my family and my boyfriend. We had a fun day in Dallas. We went to the arboretum and saw all the tulips that are in season. Then, we went to the sixth floor museum which I have never seen before. A couple days later I finally went to San Fran and it was so beautiful. My best friend and I did everything under the sun. My favorite thing about San Francisco was Muir woods. It is truly a breath taking sight. We hike for a whole day and it was worth all the leg pain the next day. It was really good to travel but it also feels good to be back in Norman and back in my routine.

Week 8: Famous Last Words

This Class:

I appreciate the break from the normal routine in this class. I enjoyed making my blog more fun for the people that visit it. So far I am doing well with points. Slowly but surely climbing up to the 410 I need for an A in the class. I think the key to that is doing the extra credit though.

Other Classes:

I had a test in my finance class on Tuesday and it was way harder than the first one but I ended up getting a decent grade so that is exciting. The rest of my classes have been hard to focus in because of the upcoming break. I have a quiz to do tonight but I am hoping that I have done enough this week to not have to worry about school next week.
In my Art Therapy class this week we talked about animal therapy and got to watch a video of therapy cats and dogs. Then, we all drew out favorite animal and turned it in. It was a little strange but I guess it was a nice change from my accounting classes.

Personal life:

FINALLY! It is Spring Break and I am so excited to go to San Fran with my best friend but I am also excited for the beginning of the week. I am going home on Friday morning and I love seeing my family. I hope I have time to go by the arboretum because the tulips are in full bloom. My cousin's wedding shower is on Saturday and I am bringing my boyfriend. I feel kind of bad for him because this is the first time for him to meet me extended family and there are a lot of them but I think he will have fun anyways. Then, I go to San Fran Wednesday.

Week 7: Famous Last Words

This class:

This week's reading was still not my favorite. I thought that watching the film would help me better understand the reading from week 6 but I have very little luck. I still found it confusing and hard to follow. I was also disappointed because this film was not as funny and entertaining as the last. I think that the Ramayana is still my favorite of the readings I have done so far.

Other Classes:

This week in my other classes was not too bad. I got all of my test grades back and I am happy with my grades. It is a good start to the semester and that is always a good feeling. Next week I have a test in my finance class and I am feeling utterly lost so I am thinking this weekend is going to be spent in the library.

Personal:

This week was pretty busy with work but sometimes being busy is good. I am looking forward to this weekend because my younger brother is coming to Oklahoma to visit me and see the OU campus. His spring break starts next week so I might even be able to convince him to stay a couple of days. Then the week after that is our spring break and I am so excited. I cannot wait to take a week off because I feel like I have kept myself very busy this semester.

In other news, this week I also burned the stew out of my arm……. twice. The first time I was trying to pull tater tots out of the oven and touched the top rack with the side of my arm and it bubble up. Then, two days later my curling iron burned the exact same stop. Now I have a large and ugly bump on my arm.

Week 6: Famous Last Words

 This Class
This week's reading has been more difficult than I thought it would be. I have not followed The Mahabharata as well as I did with The Ramayana. I think this disconnect came from how I read each of these stories. For Part A of The Ramayana, I listened to the audio book because Indian epics were not familiar to me. When I listened to the audio book I had a better understand of the main characters introduced in Part A and then was able to read Part B, Part C, and Part D easily. For The Mahabharata, I did not listen to the audio book but read the story from beginning to end. As for plot line, although The Mahabharata had a better ending, I still liked The Ramayana better.

  Other Classes
This week I took one exam in my Intermediate Accounting II class and so I have been busy studying for that most of the week. I think that all of my classes are important but, in my opinion, Intermediate Accounting II is the most important. It is most relevant to what I want to do in the future.  I took that exam this morning and I think it went okay and I am mostly relieved it is over and I can look forward to the weekend.

In my personal life, I am excited for this weekend. I do not have a test coming up next week so I am going to take a break from school this weekend. Since I have no Friday classes, I hope to have some time to hang out with friends tonight. Then tomorrow, a friend of mine is coming in town from Tennessee so I am excited to spend time with her. I think a group her friends are going to go out for dinner on Friday night. Other than that, I mostly plan to sleep.

Week 5: Famous Last Words

This week we started to read The Mahabharata and I thought it was more confusing than The Ramayana. This might be because at the beginning of every story learning all of the characters is difficult and in this story there were a lot of new name. It is also difficult because some of the names sound so similar that I get them mixed up which makes the story line confusing. One thing that helps with this problem is to write down all the characters names and relations in the reading diary as I go through it. My favorite character in The Mahabharata so far is the Pandavas brothers. They have been through a lot together but they are still upbeat about life.

This week in school has been a little hectic because I had two tests which were stressful. I have only gotten one grade back so far but I did well on that one so that makes me feel better. I also had work all of Wednesday which took away a lot of my study time. I have one test next week but I think it will be okay because I have more time to study for it. Other than that next week does not look to difficult so maybe I will have some time to work ahead in this class. Still looking forward to Spring Break so I can go to San Francisco!

Once I was done with my tests the weekend was really good. I went golfing with my boyfriend on Saturday and even though I do not golf it was fun to be there because the weather was so beautiful that day. I went to see the movie How to Be Single on Saturday night and it was pretty funny although it wasn’t my favorite movie.

Week 4: Famous Last Words

This week has been kind of crazy with the amount of work I have had to do with school. Things seem to sneak up on me. My first round of tests start next week but I am keeping myself plenty busy with the amount of homework I need to get done. That is one reason why I have been working ahead. It outs my mind to ease to know that I am not falling behind in this class. I want to be able to give this class the proper time it deserves to do a good job and make a good blog that I am proud of at the end of the semester.

I found the reading for this week extremely entertaining! I decided to watch the video "Sita Sings the Blues" instead of reading another option because to be honest I am tired of reading the story of Ramayana. I wanted to see it this time and I was not disappointed. The video was hilarious and well made! The artist who made the drawings is very talented and kept the video interesting the entire time as if I were watching a movie. I looked up some of her other work and would be happy to watch something else made by her. Her name is Nina Paley and she is very talented.

On a more modern reality note, the broncos won the super bowl! I was shocked and excited. It was also nice to be able to watch it with my friends and do something other than homework. March madness is coming up soon and I will have to do my research on the teams. My family loves March madness and I need to have a perfect bracket this year to beat my sisters. Maybe I can even convince one of them to come to Oklahoma to see an on basketball game.

Week 3: Famous Last Words

This week has been pretty good on a personal and school standpoint. I saw The Revenant which was a sad and gory movie but it was really good. I usually do not mind gory movies but in this movie I found myself covering my eyes. This Sunday I will be watching the super bowl. My boyfriend is a huge broncos fan and I like Peyton Manning. Go Broncos! Also with my personal life I have decided to go to San Francisco with my best friend over spring break so I am pretty excited.

Football

This week's reading was not my favorite. I felt that the end of Ramayana was too abrupt and unsatisfying. I thought that Part C and the beginning of Part D were good and the battle, getting Sita back, and Rama reclaiming his thrown were all good things. The end of Part D was the main problem I had. Rama does not keep his thrown, Lakshmana dies, and Sita is exiled once again. It was just not the happy ending I was hoping for.

As for school, I am starting to have a lot of assignments due in all of my classes but so far I like all of my professors which make attending class more enjoyable. Over all, I am keeping up with everything just find and trying to get ahead in this class whenever I find time. I want to make sure to do most of the extra credit in this class to make sure I am not short of the points I need to make an A. I also went to a meet the firm event with an accounting fraternity, named Beta Alpha Psi, which I found very helpful. It had nine big public firms that I would consider working for in my future career.
