Introduction to myself

Hi my name is Sara Leonard and I am 21 years old.

I am a junior at the University of Oklahoma majoring in accounting. My mother is an accountant who specializes in taxes but I never thought I would want to follow in her footsteps until after taking my first accounting class when I realized how much I enjoyed the way it worked especially because I am an organized person. Professor Wayne Thomas was also a contributing factor to my decision. He taught my financial accounting class and made it very enjoyable.

I come from a pretty big family. I have three older sisters and one younger brother and we are all four year apart from each other. One of the main reasons I love the University of Oklahoma is because all of my older sisters went here and would take me to campus when I was younger. I also have three nephews and one niece so it is always busy when I go home for the breaks.

I also have a dog named Chevy. He is a shiba inu which is a Japanese breed that looks kind of like a little fox. He is amazing around kids and rarely barks but his mannerisms are funny. He often acts like a cat. He will climb to the highest bench in the backyard and nap in the sun.

I enjoy anything outdoors and I love the beach. Every summer I go to Gulf Shores, Alabama with my family (which I mentioned in my Favorite Places post) and even this past winter break I went to Florida to visit my sister.

I am also somewhat of an adrenaline junky. I love roller coasters.  For my eighteen birthday my dad took me to go bungee jumping at a place called zero gravity and then just last summer I went sky diving with my sister which is an indescribable feeling.

  1. What a great family picture, Sara — I bet you get to have so much fun at Christmas with all those cute little kids. I have a lot of fun buying Christmas presents for grandchildren (my husband's daughters have children, so I got to become an instant grandma when we got married 10 years ago).

The picture of Chevy and your niece is not showing up, and I think it might be because you copied it from an OU email? I don't see an image there, just a link, and there is what the link goes to; I think that is the new log-in screen for student email, right? screenshot

It's easy to fix: you can edit a post any time, and instead of trying to copy-and-paste the image (I guess that is what happened?), just right-mouse click on the image in your email, save it to your desktop, and then in your blog post click on the image icon and upload the copy from your desktop. That method will work for your sure!

  2. Sara, I find it so cool that you have such a big family. That is really different from mine, as I have a fairly small family. Also I like your picture of your dog Chevy! I have never heard of that type of breed before, but he definitely does look like he is part fox. I think it's funny that you say he even acts like he is part cat sometimes too!

  3. Sarah! I think it is so cool that you're in the middle of your siblings! I am the oldest of 3 so there is a relatively large gap between my little sister and I (11 years) but I love it nonetheless! I think it would be really awesome to have older siblings who I could learn from and I am also soooo insanely jealous that you have all those cute little kids around! The next little kids in my family will be my own one day.. and thats not nearly as fun as having nieces and nephews!

  4. Hey Sara! It's nice to virtually meet you! I find it so cool that you have such a big family. I only have 2 siblings so I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to have as many brothers and sisters as you do! I'm jealous that you have nieces and nephews already. I'm patiently waiting for my older sister to have kids. I'm definitely the opposite of an adrenaline junkie. I didn't ride a roller coaster until I was about 14 years old!

  5. Nice to meet you and your beautiful family! I think it's neat that you are following your mother's footsteps. Also, I respect your love for accounting. It's not exactly my cup of tea, but the world needs people like you.
Your dog is super cute. It's funny that you mention your dog behaves like a cat because I actually have a friend who has a cat that behaves like a dog.
I look forward to reading more your posts this semester!

  6. Hi Sara, it’s nice to meet you. It’s cool that you have a large family, and you get the best of worlds, sisters and a brother. I only have brothers and I do love them, but I think having a sister would be awesome. To this day I still mention to my parents that I would like to have a sister, so you can imagine how those talks go. Thank you for sharing with us. Best wishes!

  7. Hey Sara! I am glad hear to are enjoying accounting! I have a family member going to school for that!

Isn't having a big family the best?? We have Christmas every year will all the family and between my mom and step dad there are 7 of us! Not to mention the in-laws and nieces and nephews! I thought I always wanted just two kids, now I am thinking 3 or 4! But that is a while away.

    Nice to see you again!

  8. Hello Sara!
That's awesome that family is such a big part of your life, as well as a big part of how you chose to go to college. Neither my parents nor most of my aunts and uncles went to college, so trying to figure it out was a very tough choice for me.
Your niece and nephews are absolutely adorable! I love kids, I want a few more.

It was very nice to meet you Sara!

  9. Hello Sara, Your mother must be so proud that you want to be an accountant as well! I love that you have a favorite professor in your major. Good teachers that inspire you are amazing and should be recognized. Your dog is adorable and so is your little niece! Did you go to the Zero Gravity in Dallas? It is on my bucket list. I went on the bungee jump at six flags but I think the one at Zero Gravity is much higher. How cool.

  10. Sara,

Accounting is pretty awesome. You are definitely going to have job security once you leave school as there is always need for another accountant. Also interesting that you chose the same profession that your mother did.

Chevy looks so adorable. I just want to hug him up. I love Siberian Huskies and he looks like a mini one of those. With your description of his mannerisms, well I want one now. I’m a cat and dog lover.

I used to be into roller coasters until the lap bar came up when I was riding one here in San Antonio. Bout a month later the lady fell off the Texas Giant. After that I was like, I could die another way.

  11. Hi Sara, nice to meet you. Your dog looks very cute and I love that he acts like a cat! My dog, Jax, is a bit of a "wierdo" himself, but that just makes him all the more fun. I too am an adrenaline junkie. I am very jealous that you have been sky diving. That is definitely something that I have to do in the near future.

  12. Sara,

It is nice to meet you! I have always wanted to go skydiving! However, I feel like I would chicken out at the last minute and someone would have to push me off of the plane! Your dog is adorable! What made you want to get a shiba inu and where can I get one? Your niece is also completely precious! I am sure you have fun spoiling her!

    1. Shiba Inu's are great dogs! They don't get too big and almost never bark which is good for a neighrhood. Mine is also good with kids and since I have so many nieces and nephews. It is a good dog for my family. Also he is just so darn cute!

  13. I LOVE Shiba Inus! I’m very jealous of your cute furry pup! You have such a big family – I bet the holidays are so much fun! I love meeting up with all of my family for the holidays! I also love roller coasters! But I’m not sure if I could actually go skydiving, as much as I may want to! You definitely are an adrenaline junky!

  14. Sara,
It’s great to meet you! Accounting is a great major and one that will always need employment. I have a lot of friends that are also in accounting here at OU and they all say how much they like Professor Thomas. I think your dog looks awesome! I honestly am not sure if I have ever seen one of those, so I must do some research. I also love the beach, it’s so relaxing. I just recently went to the orange bowl in Miami and the weather in South Beach was excellent. Highly recommended if you have never been. Best of luck this semester! Can’t wait to read some of your stories!

  15. Hi Sara,

Oh my gosh! I have always thought accounting was interesting, but I am not a fan of numbers. So, I do not think I would handle accounting very well. :p Your dogs are completely adorable! I think they are super cute. You have such a big family! I am an only child and while I can try to imagine what it is like to have a massive family, I do not think I will ever really know. It was nice meeting you via your blog. I can't wait to read your stories.
